These are the longer pieces: what a week actually costs, whether you need a car, whether the tap water is safe, what each month is like, and how the taxi pricing really works. They exist because we kept answering the same questions by email and decided to write the answers down once.

We own at Copal and we run this site ourselves, which means two things. We know the specifics, down to which months the pool is cold and what the maintenance fees cover. And we have no reason to tell you the beach is perfect in July, because you booking a week you did not enjoy helps nobody.

If you are early in planning, start with the month-by-month pieces and the cost breakdown. If you have already booked, the practical ones are more use: getting around, drinking water, tipping, and what the airport is actually like a year on.
